About

Turning 40 has put me in a reflective mood.  I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished so far in my adult life – a happy marriage, two wonderful children, a rewarding career as a neonatologist, and multiple marthons and half marathons.  But, I decided that to get excited about the decade ahead, I needed to set a big goal.  Running has become a large part of my life.  It’s the part of my day that is just for me.  I spend much of my day worrying about patients, talking with parents, helping my kids, running errands…  When I go out for a run, I get to leave that all behind.  But, I’m not a fast runner and don’t have much desire to get faster.  So, after brainstorming ideas and reading about others’ running goals, I’ve decided the perfect running adventure for me is to try to complete 50 marathons or half marathons in 50 states between the ages of 40 and 50.  I’m hoping to take my family to the majority of the races so that they get to be a part of the adventure.  It’s making me excited to dive head-first into the next decade of my life.
